Facts
Alec Wildenstein was a French-born American billionaire businessman. He was born on 5th August 1940 into a french billionaire family to Daniel Wildenstein and his wife Martine Kapferrer in Marseille, Bouches-du-Rhône, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France. Guy Wildenstein is his younger brother.
His family had fled from France to the United States after German Army occupied France during World War II.
His parents got divorced and his father, Daniel Wildenstein married secondly to Sylvia Roth in 1978.
Alec met Jocelyn Périsset at a shooting weekend at the Wildenstein African ranch “Ol Jogi” through Saudi arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi and they were married on April 30, 1978. The couple had 2 children, a son, Alec Wildenstein Jr. and a daughter, Diane Wildenstein.
Alec threatened Jocelyn with a gun after she caught him with a 19-year-old Russian model in their bedroom. Alec was arrested and spent a night in jail. They got divorced in 1999 and Jocelyn was awarded $2.5 billion in one of the biggest divorce settlements in history and $100 million each year for the following 13 years. However the Judge ordered that she cannot use any alimony payments for any further cosmetic surgery.
After the divorce, Alec Wildenstein got married to russian-born actress Liouba Stoupakova on 15th June 2000 and they were married until the death of Alec Wildenstein on 18th February 2008 due to Prostate cancer.
After the death of his father in 2001, Alec Wildenstein took over the family’s horse racing and breeding business and his brother, Guy Wildenstein assumed control over the art dealership business.
In 2005, the Court of Appeal in Paris ruled that his step-mother Sylvia Wildenstein had been deceived into signing away her inheritance by her stepsons, Alec & Guy and she is entitled to half of her late husband’s wealth.
Alec Wildenstein was the owner of many successful thoroughbred race horses including Bright Sky, Aquarelliste, Westerner and Vallée Enchantée.
