Nupur Shikhare is a celebrity fitness trainer and a triathlete specialising in calisthenics and movements. He is engaged to Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan.
He has been training former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen since 28th March 2008 and has also reportedly trained Ira’s father Aamir Khan. He was also the official trainer for Miss India Universe pageant – I AM She.
Nupur Shikhare was born on 17th October 1985 to Rajendra Shikhare and his wife Pritam Shikhare in Pune, Maharashtra. He also has an elder sister named Sapana Shikhare Savji.
He did his schooling from Seth Dagaduram Katariya High School in Mukund Nagar, Pune, Maharashtra and later graduated from R. A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai, Maharashtra.
He had always been a fitness freak and has been training since he was just 10-year-old when he started playing competitive tennis. After college, he started training himself in various fitness disciplines and later opened his own martial arts training academy, Fitnessim in 2009. At Fitnessim, he taught Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial arts form.
In 2004, he moved moved from Pune to Mumbai and got inclined towards filmmaking. He made a few short films and videos which caught the attention of a Marathi film director who approached him to assist in his next movie but during those schedules it became difficult for him maintain his gym and workouts. So he left it and approached manager of the gym where he used to workout and told him about what he was feeling and also told him that he want to do something in fitness. The Manager asked him to join the gym as a trainer and that’s how his journey as a fitness trainer started.
Nupur revealed that he used to roam around bandra on his bike handing over his business cards to the watchmen of the upscale gyms to contact him if there is any vacancy. He somehow got the contact number of Sushmita Sen and he texted her “I am a fitness trainer and I want to train you“. He got a reply and was asked to mail them his profile. Nupur was interviewed and Sushmita said let’s give a shot tomorrow and have a trial class. Following the trial class, he was hired by Sushmita Sen and the rest is history.
Nupur participated in his first triathlon, ‘Taiwan 70.3 half ironman’ in 2014 and won his first medal in ‘Ironman 2016’. He has so far completed 2 half and 2 full Ironman.
In 2017, he represented India in the reality show ‘Ultimate Beastmaster’ which streamed on Netflix. He finished 8th in the competition.
He worked as a Fight Master for the Disney India TV show ‘Aladdin – Experience The Magic’ in 2018.
He came into limelight with a bold nude photoshoot in 2019. In the photoshoot, Nupur was seen running on a grass field without clothes and in another picture, he was seen wearing only a Christmas cap.
In September 2022, Bicycle brand ‘Scott Sports India’ signed Nupur Shikhare as their Brand Ambassador for the Indian market.
Nupur Shikhare got engaged to Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan on 18th November 2022 in an intimate ceremony in Mumbai. Nupur wore a black tuxedo with a white shirt and black bow, while Ira was seen wearing a gorgeous red gown for the engagement ceremony. The engagement was attended by Ira Khan’s parents Aamir Khan and Reena Datta, step-mother Kiran Rao, cousin Imran Khan, grandmother Zeenat Hussain, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Vijay Varma, Ashutosh Gowariker, Gulshan Devaiah, and Akshara Haasan among others.
The couple officially announced their relationship in 2020 and started regularly posting their lovey-dovey pictures on their social media hanles. In September 2022, Nupur Shikhare proposed Ira Khan at one of his cycling event in Italy by getting down on his knees with a ring in his hand and asked Ira to marry him. Ira responded with a big ‘Yes’ and the duo sealed the deal with a kiss. Later in a joint post, the couple shared the video on Instagram with the caption, “Popeye: She said yes, Ira: Hehe I said yes“.
He is a big fan of Sebastian Kienle, an International athlete and a legend in the global Ironman Arena.
Nupur has a tattoo of Capoeira on his right leg, an IAM tattoo on his right wrist and a tattoo on his back. He also has a “Anchor” tattoo on his left forearm which was made by Ira Khan in October 2020. It was Ira’s very first tattoo and she shared the video of the tattoo on her Instagram handle and wrote, “Bucket list item #5: Done. I JUST DID MY FIRST TATTOO! ME. Thanks @nupur_shikhare for trusting me and @ironbuzztattoos for making it possible. Not bad, right? I think I have an alternate career.“.
