Vipula Kadri was a social worker who founded Pride India and Save The Children India. Her younger daughter, Monisha Kadri also known as Mana Shetty is married to bollywood actor Sunil Shetty. Athiya Shetty and Ahan Shetty are Vipula’s grandchildren.
She was born on 25 December 1936 in a Punjabi Kapoor family and had 6 siblings.
Vipula Kadri got married to I. M. Kadri, a well-known Indian architect on 16 October 1971 and the couple was blessed with a son, Rahul Kadri and 2 daughters, Isha Kadri and Monisha Kadri.
Her husband, I. M. Kadri is a world-renowned architect and his name features in the Guinness Book of Records for creating the world’s highest stained glass mural (135 feet) at the Ramada hotel in Dubai.
In 1990, she was conferred with the Distinguished Leadership Award for Outstanding Professional and Community Leadership by the American Biographical Institute, Inc. and in the same year, she was bestowed with Mahila Shiromani Award by the Shiromani Institute, New Delhi.
In 1997, she was awarded Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad Award by Indian National Congress.
Vipula Kadri was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after she fell ill unexpectedly on 19 April 2007 and was put in Intensive Care. She passed away on 24 April 2007.
In over two decades of social work, she established Save the Children in 1982, Save The Children India in 1988 and Wise in 1992. Up until her death in 2007, Mrs. Kadri worked tirelessly all across the country for the poor and marginalized & made a difference in the lives of millions of people. She was fondly called by her friends as ‘Vipla’ and after her death, the name of her foundation ‘Save The Children India’ was changed to ‘Vipla Foundation’ in her memory.

Her elder daughter, Isha Mehra Kadri is married to Yogesh Mehra, a Punjabi finance professional and her son, Rahul Kadri is married to Shimula Jhaveri, an architect.
